The Armoured Train Incident and Capture of Winston Churchill


This is the site where an armoured train was ambushed by the Boers on the 15th November 1899, and Winston Churchill (then a newspaper correspondent with the Morning Post, who helped to clear the wreckage from the railway line) was captured. The grave of three members of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers are situated across the railway line.
