If your New Year’s resolution includes being active then you need not despair because that can still happen easily when you have a weekend getaway in the Drakensberg. The Northern berg’s parkrun has been happening for a few years and recently a parkrun has begun in the Central Berg. The parkrun happens all over the world. Wake-up on a Saturday morning and in most regions you will find a gathering of people ready for a little exercise.

Cannibal’s Cave parkrun

Pop past Cannibals in the Amazizi Village, adjacent to the Royal Natal National Park, and you will meet Lizzie and her team at Lizzie’s store. Approximately 30-40 runners gather here, beneath the majectic Amphitheatre to stretch the limbs and get the heart rates up. The run meanders from Cannibals, across the Tugela Bridge and toward the Mahai Stables, 2.5km out and you return the same way. It follows the tar road so it is easy to take strollers along too.

The Winterton parkrun

This is a fun, farm and fresh air run. Starting at The Waffle Hut and running on the grass until the first farm gate; along the farm roads, right next to the crops; crossing some fun muddy patches at the bottom of the first dam and then sometimes quite a stream when over the top dam wall.

Beautiful scenery with bird sightings.

Run or Walk, just come and enjoy.  We hope to see many of you registered parkrunners joining us in the Berg on Saturday mornings at 8 am.
